Are those “classics" exempt from smog laws?

I want to get one of these and throw in a mill from a Fiesta just to see peoples jaws hit the floor when I pop the hood. Frunk indeed!

I’m not sure about California but in my state once it’s 25 years old it doesn’t have to have emissions testing. It would only have to meet the regs for the year it was built anyway, and those pretty much didn’t exist.

every where you go, make it part of the routine, after you get out and before you get in pop the hood. even if you only check the oil....... make sure it has about a million candle spotlight for an engine bay light. for that added attention.

Mounting an off-road light bar under the hood aimed at the engine would be a must.

I prefer extremes so if we are going the V-8 route I would (budget not withstanding) opt for the Voodoo from Ford. Mostly for the flat plane crank, partially for the name.

Fair enough. Ubiquitous, cheap, and indestructible, though...

My super car budget, at an irresponsible stretch, is $4,000 for a 2000 E39 Beamer that a friend might sell me. I’d love to do an LS swap some day, but I’ll never have the money nor the time. So yes, while I could listen to the exhaust from the flat-plane Voodoo all day long, I just can’t relate. (Didn’t mean for that to sound like a rant, more like a
lament
)

was looking for something that almost disappears entirely in the engine bay. kinda like that inline 4 or a rotary.
![]() 04/21/2016 at 14:38 |

It all starts with a plan... I’m in the same boat, there is always something else/better to spend the $ and time on. Wife, House, Kids, Dog, Travel, locking yourself in a closet.
If we are dreaming, let’s dream regardless of cost. (hence the Voodoo) Realistic is a different game altogether.

Could you imagine a Rotary in a square bird? People would ask where you relocated the engine.

the nose would sit up like it didnt have one.
